Loved the site and all the comments. My grandparents moved to Las Vegas in '28, bought the old Stewart Ranch, then moved to So.7th and Carson. Some of their first friends were J. T. and Ione McWilliams. JT died before I was born but Mother Mac was alive most of my growing up. I can remember all of those businesses you are all talking about. Pics of the Last Frontier made me cry. I am ever so proud wearing my dad's 1932 las vegas high school ring with the pic of the school on the ring. My aunt Barbara and my cousin Leland died in 1980 and I have not been able to return since but Las Vegas will always be home.

Does anyone remember the store that used to be in Meadows mall that sold natural wood tables and mushroom lamps? Kinda a hippie store??? Might have been at the Boulevard Mall too.

I remember going to a disco in the late 70's and can't remember the name of it. It was owned by a "Star" and can't remember his name now. It's driving me crazy. Anyone remember the discos?

The disco that opened in the late 70's was named Jubilation. Owned by Paul Anka.

so happy to run into this site! I am only 50 so I don't remember a lot of this but here are some things I DO remember - Fletcher Jones Chevrolet on Alta and Decatur - a really good friend of mine, Steve Ptak, was the GM there for years, he just passed in 2014 =(

Trampps nightclub, I think was West Flamingo. Used to go there all the time. Ditto Shark's nightclib which was kinda out by the airport? Harmon maybe? Don't know exactly!

A friend of mine founded Tropicana Pizza at Trop and Maryland - he was a young guy, but he died a few years back. His name was Azzam and he had a brother named Bilal.

I saw someone mention Valley Auto Upholstery lol which is funny because I did end up going there because of those stupid commercials!

Ask Mr Foster travel!

One time, I lived at The Mark 1 highrise on Desert Inn and they had a great restaurant called the Cloister.

Also, remember Fred - IF I CAN FINANCE HIM AND I VEEL! From GMF Motors on Boulder Highway.

Garcia's Restaurant. Cafe Michelle (is that still there?) on Flamingo and Maryland I think?

Imperial Palace, which was ALWAYS a dump.

I worked at a radio station, 97.1 KYRK, Power 97! I also worked at KLUC for like one day, it was the day they were switching to CDs and I couldnt do it.

Hacienda Hotel, my friend Chris Lowden's dad owned it and I think they owned the Sahara too. Chris had a suite at the Hacienda with a super huge screen that we would watch.

I was there when Tupac was murdered by the Chevrom on Flamingo.

And I lived at Club Pacific at the Lakes (9325 West Desert Inn) when it was first built and my apartment looked out towards Red Rock and there was literally nothing west of me at all. Nothing!

Does anyone remember Ned Day from KLAS? He was friends with Sue Lowden, also from KLAS and she was married to my friend's dad who owned the hotels. Ned Day had decided to clean up his act, stop drinking and change his diet, he died shortly thereafter from a heart attack I think. And this was right after the Spilotro's were murdered.

Just can't believe how much it has grown!

The Daydream Ranch was a favorite place of mine, they had great food, great bar, horseback riding and a lovely swimming pool for the summer. I Arrived in Vegas in the 1960's and never left. It was then the very outskirts of town
Still miss old style Vegas. The Daydream Ranch was located on the corner of Warm Springs and Eastern Ave which is now all shopping centers and residential housing. Right up/down the street was Palm Mortuary which I believe is still there, also Sunset Park still there.....forever in memory ...Bonnie Springs Ranch...

My Dad was Robert C Mallory and I believe related to the owners of the Swanky Club. I remember stopping there in the 50's we also stayed with family in Vegas on Mallory street.

Anyone remember Desert Divers and the owners name. Think their names were Linda and her husband. Don't remember his name. Trying to get a replacement certification card. Need the owners name. He had black hair and a beard. Anything helps.

I lived at the Club Pacific apartments on the East side on Flamingo between Eastern & Sandhill, "i believe". St. Viator's church is on the corner. There was a dance club located on east Tropicana. Don't remember the name, very popular during the 90's. Anyone??? Also Cafe Michelle's on the east side and later opened on the west side. Dated a wonderful man whom I met there. Rene. Where is he now, I wonder.

I was part of the crew from Denver who came to Vegas in the winter of '70 to open the Starboard Tack Restaurant on Sahsrs Blvd. We were right at the beginning of the surf and turf / salad bar craze and it was really a hoot for our group of recent college graduates. Never forget Jim Foyle introducing us to Joe Louis, and getting a booth right in front of the stage for Barbra Streisand's New Years Eve show at the Hilton for a $20 tip to the Maitre D'. Might cost a little more now.

Does anyone remember The "Lariat Club " that was a Western bar and dance hall back in 1965 ? I think it was on either Industrial, Highland or Western Ave. Buck Owens, Bobby Austin and other famous star were part owners at one time. If anyone knows the correct address, please let me know. I would love to drive by and see if the old building is still standing.

Thankyou

What about Thunderbird Downs? I bought my horse there from an owner who had both thoroughbreds and quarter horses and he couldn't afford both so he sold me one of his 2 year-old quarter horses. This was in 1964-65.

I remember Uncle John's Pancake House on Fremont St. around 13th or 14th St. Later in the early 70s it turned into Two Guys from Italy.

My husband (John Anderson) was the drummer for Country Comfort with Cindy Parker and Bill Sampson. Bobby McCormick would frequently "roar" after hours at my house. I remember Bill Ladd and the name Joe McGinnis rings a bell as well as the handsome Don Holiman. Sigh...We had some fun then...Joy

Foxy Dogs-Fremont Street, first JC Penneys downtown kitty corner to Sears. Penneys had an elevator. Dirty Sally's became Rumors, which became the Country Club. Circus Room downtown.
