Oh my gosh! I miss the 70's,80's, and 90's in Las Vegas. Does anybody remember a small Greek restaurant on Sahara near Paradise (around the old Pamplemousse). Two brothers owned it and the floor was black and white tile. What was the name of this place? I remember disco at the Brewery, the Shark Club and the Keyboard Lounge...

I am born & raised here (1970-) and I can think of quite a few to add, but I can't believe no one mentioned The Drum Shoppe (Mahoney's) on Charleston & Maryland.

Las Vegas Hospital, city pool on Bonanza, Old Ranch Pool (Wilcox owned it), Helldorodo Village (5th near Bonanza,) Helldorodo parades and the time they had an actual swimming pool on the float! Cliff's groceries (5th), when city hall was one story and had big trees around it, Maryland Pkway was 3 parks and the beautiful trees lined the one going down and intersecting with Oakey, the Pizzeria on lower Fremont -- never have tasted pizza as good..riding the bus downtown -- Ronzones, Chic Hect, Ardans (De Ette) Woolworths, Trader Bills. Twin Lakes pools, going to the Lake, etc. I was born and raised in LV.

Some other noteworthy spots...
The Hair Zoo, Ample Duds, Bogie's, Drapery King(I'll never forget their jingle..."call 8-7-6-5-1-5-1..."), The Burger Hut(an uber-sleazy, only-in-vegas dive where you could have a greasy burger, buy magazines like HUSTLER and OUI, and do some nefarious dealings with a bookie who wore an eye-patch), The Harvest House, Zody's, Rebel Britches, The Newsroom(a boho coffee klatsch downtown which moved near UNLV and lost it's charm), Luv-It Custard, Bandito's, and lots more.
Does anyone recall a family restaurant called HUMPTY-DUMPTY'S? I don't even recall where it was, but it was an after-church family ritual at some point in the early 70s and had a very kitsch Mother Goose/nursery rhyme motif.

There was a link to "Daydream Ranch" on Google to your site, Lynn. Where is it? I want to know more about its history...

I remember walking to the Mermaid swimming pool downtown from high school. It took the place of a gym class and we learned to swim to music. Spent many summer days at Warm Springs Ranch and Twin Lakes. Of course the Wildcat Lair is a fond memory, too. It was a great place to hang out with friends. Las Vegas was really a friendly and safe town for kids to live and create good memories.

Round Up Drive In was located diagonally across the street from the Stratosphere in the area of Denny's & KFC on Las Vegas Blvd South - also Two Guys From Italy - Steve K.

You forgot to add the Candlelight Wedding Chapel. It was located on the corner of Riviera Blvd and Las Vegas Blvd. It started in 1966 to 2004. Alot of Movie Stars were married there.

The Guild was on 2nd and Carson, not Fremont St and places like the Elite Market and Clark County Wholesale were part of the old Vegas as was Gragson Furniture, Garretts Furniture and the Ed Ferris Garage. Anderson Dairy was not the first, El Rancho Grande and Hienes were here first, both bought out by Anderson. Pussy Cat A-Go-Go was a hot spot to dance, as was the Teen Neat Club. Thanks for the great memories......
How about all those "disco" night clubs in the 70's? Dirty Sallys, Billy Jacks, PJ Bottoms, Brewery, The Oz across from Circuc circus, JB's by the Boulavard Mall and who could forget The Troubador?
I was born here in "56 so the 70's were the best times growing up here. So much more I remember!!
Does anyone have pic's of those clubs?

Just a couple of things that still stand out for me: Pizza Den pizza by the slice ($1.00, if memory serves) was to die for. Always prayed for a corner slice (yup, their pizzas weren't round). And, for Cynlyn ... Mode-o-Day (think that's how it's spelled) dress shop, is one I remember in the Charleston Mall.
Was Commercial Deli in Commercial Center on Sahara mentioned? Wow, so many memories.

Lived most of my life in Vegas and when we used to hang out on Fremont St when cars could go both ways and we would cruise up and down u-turning at the train station...My food memory was FOXY DOGS and that place should be in here. Anyone have a pix of that? Love the memories..
Also Alpine Village..too bad that is gone now.

How about the Silverbird casino and what was the name of the motel across from the Stardust that had the pool with the 3 glass windows? Raised my family in Veags from 1967 and could write a book about all the old characters, like in 1971 when old Harold fell out of the eye at the Alladin and onto my crap game (he was sauced up as ussual). Wow what memories me and my brother Jack have.

I believe it was called Franklins's Dress Shop on the SW corner of Fremont & 4th St. My Mom worked there from about '72-'75 till she went to work at The Marina when it opened.

Remember on W. Charleston and Decatur the long fence on the southwest corner that had individual paintings on it???? Around 1971.... I remember a young man walking along the fence with long brown hair with his guitar on his back as I was listening to "A long and winding Road" by the Beatles.... It was one of those moments that just stuck in my fond memories of Vegas.
