Details for the second annual FCLV's Mid-Century Modern celebration will be posted in the morning!

In the meantime, we are mourning the passing of one of our dearest interviewees, George Foley, Sr.  When we sat down to interview George a few years back, he regaled us almost two hours with his stories of being a bellhop and a valet, of bring beer to Pearl Bailey and then sitting with her and drinking them, of his life as a lawyer and most of all, of growing up in Las Vegas before World War II.

George passed away a few days ago at the age of 88.  He leaves behind family and friends who will always remember him.

We will, too.

Our emails hint that many of you very much wanted us to have another Mid-Century Modern Las Vegas weekend filled with panels, architecture, tours and more.

Well, we heard you.  Check back this weekend to find out all the details for our "Mid-Mod Marvels:  A Celebration of Mid-Centuiry Modern Architecture and Design".

A reception at the Morelli House on Friday evening Oct 22nd.

On Saturday, October 23rd, a panel on Mid-Century Modern Architecture and Art, a panel on the history of the Las Vegas News Bureau and the Las Vegas premiere of the documentary on William Krisel, the architect behind Paradise Palms.  William Krisel will be with us in person and will attend the screening.

And best of all, Alan Hess, the authority on all that is MCM,  will be back with us guiding us through all that is Mid-Century Modern and the architects who changed forever the landscape of Las Vegas as well as handle the Q&A at the Krisel film premiere.

And yes, there will be a double-decker bus tour on Sunday afternoon with a new route, new open houses and lots of history.

By all accounts, it was a wild and successful gathering of fans protesting the closing of the Liberace Museum.

We applaud all who attended.

On the day of the big protest, Joseph Gabriel clutched a puppet.

This was no ordinary puppet. It was a little Liberace marionette, wearing a wide grin and a sky-blue sequined suit.

That's what it's come to: Dolls and demonstrators. So very Liberace.

"We want a full accounting of what has happened with the Liberace Museum's finances," said Gabriel, a master magician and puppeteer featured in David Saxe's "Vegas! The Show" at Miracle Mile Shops. "It has been sad to see how the decisions that have been made over the years have hurt more than they have helped the museum."
