I grew up at 818 South Fourth Street,the house is gone now. The house next door was turned into Chicago Joes restaurant. When I was young there was a lady living there with a very,very,mean dog.On the corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and Gass ave was a market that was owned by Ron and G.L. Vitto, next to that was the Bottle House bar. We used to take empty soda bottles to the back door for the deposits.Cantrells cleaners was there then also and it is still there today.Just down the street was the Arden dairy where you could get chocolate milk for a nickel.There was a vacant lot on Fourth and Hoover that had a large tree in the far right hand corner,my friend and I built a treehouse of sorts using an old metal wash pot,we put it up in 1961,that pot stayed up in that tree(I would drive by to check on it)until the mid 80's
