Ask LasVegasLynn > The Venetian Restaurant?

I grew up in Las Vegas in the 1970s. We moved away in 1980. I have a lot of fond memories of it from that era. In fact, it's hard for me to go back because it's changed so much.

Anyway, I remember an Italian restaurant we used to go to back in the day near the Strip, I believe it was called the Venetian? There was a fresco of a Venice gondola on the wall, I believe. I've tried looking it up but all I get is the Venetian Hotel. Maybe I have the name wrong?

Also, El Jardin was one of our favorite restaurants growing up. I guess that's not there anymore either. :(

Thanks for your help in reliving my childhood.

The Venetian Restaurant was on West Sahara Avenue just west of Valley View and across the street from Wonder World.

Back in the day, one of the owners was Lorraine Hunt's family.

The El Jardin was a terrific Mexican restaurant on West Charleston in Charleston Heights. The building is still there but is now a different business.
