There was an Arctic Circle on Las Vegas Blvd North in Northtown when I was very young. We lived on Magnet Street and used to cross the Blvd to get to Arctic Circle for a cool treat on a hot day.

There was a post-war Western style bungalow motel kitty corner from that particular Circle along with a Wimpy's nearby and a hardware store.

Hope that helps!

My mother used to love gambling at the Silver Nugget. She felt like it was a casino for the locals. I remember a pit boss named Turk. He was ball headed before it was fashionable. Howard Hughes was rumored to have played Blackjack there. They closed the table and let him play against the dealer. He was in cognito in a trench coat , dark glasses and light brown fedora. My mom played bingo there. They had sessions on the odd hours. They 1 pm and the 5 pm sessions gave lots of free cards with a $1 purchase. So you would end up with 5 cards altogether for just $1. What a deal!!!
