At one time when I was about 11 years old and worked for Jake Vontobel at the lumber yard filling bottles with turpinetine, paint thinner and minerial spirits.  Those were great years.  I have so many fond memories I view them as treasures.  As you know in those days there was only the 5th street grammer school and the Las Vegas High. Went to fifth street school and graduated from Vegas High in 1947.  This was a great experince to have.  There are not a whole lot of people that were that lucky to remember what life was like in Las Vegas in the 40's.  The first job I ever had was working at VON TOBELS LUMBER for Jake Von Tobel.
